Enjoy a day out in the medieval town of Bury St Edmunds only 20 minutes away by car along the A14. This historical market town has plenty to offer, from walks amidst the ruins in the Abbey Gardens, tours of the Greene King Brewery and if you fancy a spot of afternoon tea why not visit Harriet's tearooms and take the weight off your feet. Markets days are Wednesdays and Saturdays and if you are visiting during the Festive period, the Christmas Market is not one to be missed.
Suffolk is fortunate to have an abundance of heritage sites that are of significant importance to Britain's history, such as the Sutton Hoo the Saxon burial site, Kentwell Hall a well preserved Tudor Manor that is famous for its reenactments, or the award winning gardens at privately owned Helmingham Hall. Whether you are a film buff or have a keen eye for architecture then the village of Lavenham is more than worth a trip with its crooked beamed house and narrow winding streets.
A guest information book is provided at the cottage expanding on what Suffolk has to offer from days out to dining out.
